Catfish and the Bottlemen play to a sell-out crowd at Derby Arena

Catfish and the Bottlemen | Derby LIVE

Tue 8 Nov 2016

The Brit Award winners took centre stage at Derby Arena on Saturday 5 November to start their UK tour. This was certainly a gig that excited and wowed the fans.  Support act Canadian alternative rock band, July Talk was well received, putting everyone in the mood for what was to come.

When Catfish and the Bottlemen took to the stage the 3,500 crowd cheered, whistled and screamed. They played hits from their debut album The Balcony and their latest chart topping album The Ride.  Front man Van Mcann got the crowd enthralled, singing along to some of their top hits.

The gig was taken to an even more intimate level when Van played Hourglass solo and with acoustic guitar, getting the crowd to sing along. Social media sites, including Facebook and Twitter, were full of glowing reviews of the event.

Jonathan Coussens @JonCoussens – “@derby_arena glad to see that derby has a proper gig venue #catfishandthebottlemen”

Ryan Weston @Ryweston87 – “Very impressed with the Derby Arena. Sound excellent and @thebottlemen superb”

Neil Melton @NeilMelton – “@thebottlemen great gig last night @derby_arena - my new favourite venue - superb facility”

Harry Chilton @HChilton24 – “@thebottlemen for the 4th time with @daisyogle. Derby Arena is way bigger than I thought it'd be”

The gig took place just a couple of weeks after Derby Arena successfully hosted 90s rock legends Happy Mondays, Bluetones and Cast.

Derby Arena is set to host the National Taekwondo Championship on Sunday 20 November, the all-star family pantomime Cinderella between Tuesday 6 December and Tuesday 3 January, National Omnium Championships on Saturday 4 February, Professor Brian Cox LIVE on Tuesday 9 May and Jimmy Carr on Saturday 8 July.
