Derby Arena

Mon 9 Feb 2015

The iconic new Derby Arena is set to host one of the BBC’s upcoming free Ten Pieces Schools Concerts, a classical concert performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, on Fri 19 Jun.

BBC Music’s Ten Pieces is a new initiative for primary school pupils, which aims to open up the world of classical music to children. Led by BBC Learning and the BBC Performing Groups and launched in 2014, the BBC announced ten pieces of classical music designed to allow children to learn more about classical music and inspire them to use music creatively.

The concert is one of 18 celebratory concerts running across the country, offering primary schools an opportunity to hear the ten pieces performed live.

The ten pieces include Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 (1st movement), Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King from 'Peer Gynt', Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 4 (3rd movement) and Anna Meredith’s Connect It.

Tickets will be available online for Derbyshire and Derby City Schools through Derbyshire Music Education Hub website http://derbyshiremusichub.org.uk/ from mid-February. Please note that these concerts are suitable for key stage 2 pupils.
