Derby Christmas Ice Rink
Mon 8 Sep 2014
Although summer is only just over we’re already thinking about our Autumn/Winter season. This includes the return of the Derby Christmas Ice Rink. It will be on the Market Place from Fri 28 Nov and will be staying right through until after Christmas. Last year the Ice Rink saw its highest number of skaters on the rink with 17,500 people taking to the ice and this year we are hoping to beat that record.
For the beginner skater we will once again be offering Ice Skating Lessons with the experienced skaters who work at the rink. The lessons will last 40 minutes and range from a one to one lesson to lessons with three of you, just in case your friends or family need to learn the skating ropes as well.
Thursdays will be a day to look forward to where fancy dress is not compulsory but there will be prizes to be won for the best dressed skater of the night!
If you are already planning on coming to the ice rink and have numerous questions to ask then check out the Derby Christmas Ice Rink page on our website or visit the official website.
The Ice Rink isn’t coming alone, as every Saturday there will be street entertainment, from Scrooge being carried by a giant snowman around the Market Place whilst he plays some of our favourite Christmas carols and beautiful Ice sculptures being made right in front of our eyes to real penguins and reindeers.
From Wed 3 – Sun 21 Dec there will be a Christmas Arts & Crafts Fair running alongside the Ice Rink with a variety of independent crafters selling unique creations from clothes, decorative items and jewellery. The Craft Fair provides a great opportunity to find that special gift for a loved one.
