Derbys' First Comedy Festival a success!

Derby Comedy Festival

Tue 24 Jun 2014

In June, the first Derby Comedy Festival took place throughout the city and it was a great success. After the initial disappointment that some of the acts had to be cancelled due to the fire at the Assembly Rooms site back in March, we have worked hard to ensure as many of the Festival Events could go ahead as possible.

The first four acts were transferred to the Festival Tent which was put up in the Market Place especially for the occasion, and Steve Hewlett was moved to the Derby Theatre Studio to close the Festival.

Derby was filled with comedy as films were shown at QUAD, cabaret premiered at Déda and there was plenty of standup taking place at Bar One.

Many people enjoyed the comedy on offer and several of the events were sold-out, so all in all a brilliant 10 days of comedy in Derby was had by all who came.

We’re pleased that the festival is going to be an annual event, and will be updating the Derby Comedy Festival website with details of acts for 2015 as we get them, so keep a close eye on the site, or join our mailing list to be the first to know what’s happening at the festival in 2015.

Here's just a few of the comments we received on Twitter...
