Fri 5 Feb 2016
We are excited to bring an exciting and interactive mix of events to Derby LIVE’s Guildhall Theatre and Derby Market Place throughout February half term.
Following on from the successful Christmas season, parents can continue to watch their children smile, laugh and enjoy the charming performances of How The Koala Learnt To Hug on Sunday 14 February at 2:30pm andSid’s Show on Wednesday 17 February at 11:30am and 2:30pm, both taking place at the Guildhall Theatre. Meanwhile, adults can also release that inner-kid with their friends and family at this year’s electrifying Valentine’s Fair which will occupy Derby Market Place over ten consecutive days, from 1pm till late on Friday 12 – Sunday 21 February.
The People’s Theatre Company brings to life the magical story of How The Koala Learnt To Hug. That is the question the Australian storyteller means to answer as he tries to get his daughter, as well as your children, to finally give you a hug. Based on the best-selling book by Steven Lee, the charming outback cast depicts this musical through vibrant scenes with picnics, bubbles and the magic of family.
It has been written especially for children aged three and above to enjoy with their grownups. As an extra treat, author Steven Lee will be available to sign copies of How The Koala Learnt To Hug and other Australian fairy tales which will be on sale at a specially reduced rate after the show.
How The Koala Learnt To Hug will be performed at the Guildhall Theatre on Sunday 14 Februaryat 2:30pm and tickets are priced at £8.
Later on in the week, you can join Sid Sloane from Cbeebies live on stage in a fantastic fun-filled adventure. He will invite you to join him on his quest to find out where in the world his favourite socks and shoes have got to. There are plenty of characters to meet as you are taken on an adventure to the bottom of the sea, deep into the jungle and float in outer space.
Sid’s Show is an interactive experience crammed with games, songs, poems and magic, bound to leave you with a smile on your face and a spring in your step. Sid Sloane is the hugely popular original star presenter of the Cbeebies channel and also ‘Let’s Play’ – a dressing up adventure show on Cbeebies, therefore this show is perfect for families with children aged three and above.
