Introducing our new autumn What’s On Guide

Thu 11 Aug 2016

Hot off the press this week is the brand new Derby LIVE Oct – Dec 2016 What’s On Guide. This new guide is chock-a-block with tons of events for the whole family. Highlights include the 10th Derby Folk Festival which takes place at various venues around the city. The diversity of talented performers and the super-friendly atmosphere make this a great event and the 10th anniversary year is all set to be the best yet.

Something we are really looking forward to is the Happy Monday’s + The Bluetones playing a special one night only gig at Derby Arena. If the album Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches is on your playlists don’t miss this event as it promises to be a night to remember.

Cinderella is this year’s pantomime, which once again will take place at Derby Arena. The show stars TV, West End star and comedian, Richard Blackwood who will be playing the role of Buttons. Eilish O’Carroll star of Mrs Brown’s Boys who plays the character Winnie McGoogan will be bringing an Irish twist to the part of Fairy Godmother. Art Attack presenter Lloyd Warbey is sure to please the crowds as Dandini.

The show promises to be packed with songs, slapstick comedy and fun. Singing along and dancing are obligatory, a real treat for all ages. Meanwhile, children and families alike can enjoy the company of the ever popular Babbling Vagabongs in their Christmas spectacle at the Guildhall Theatre, Captain Sprout and the Christmas Pirates.

We see Captain Sprout at the October half term holidays too as he brings his Pop Up Pirate Shop activity workshops to the Guildhall theatre. Children aged 3 to 11 are invited to join in the workshops. The talented Babbling Vagabonds will keep the kids entertained with storytelling and arts and crafts and parents can come along for free!

The Big Wheel will be making a welcome return to the Market Place. The attraction will be open from 3pm on Thu 13 Oct.

If you enjoy comedy, the Guildhall is host to 3 great comedians this autumn, we have Omid Djalili, James Acaster and the America’s Got Talent TV star The Boy with Tape on his Face is TAPE FACE.

This is a flavour of some of the things on offer; you can download the full brochure here.
