We know you're just as excited as us about the 2015 Derby Comedy Festival because you love to laugh and we've got something very exciting to announce... the new Derby Comedy Festival patron is Derby born comedian Jonny Awsum!

Jonny’s feel-good brand of musical comedy has seen him rise from fresh faced newbie to a highly sought after headline act, in a matter of months. Audience members don’t just leave entertained, they leave as fans.

Born in Derby, Jonny has been travelling the World, armed with an impressive arsenal of jokes and his trusty guitar. He’s a regular at comedy clubs, as his crowd-pleasing set sees him regularly ending his sets to standing ovations and demands of an encore.

Jonny said “As a young Jonny Awsum growing up in Derby I always had two ambitions: to be chosen as the Derby Comedy Festival Patron and to be allowed to roller-boot through The Eagle Centre. My Mum never let me wear my roller-boots in town in case I rolled through the window of WH Smith or Olympus Sports. So I am especially touched that the good folks of the Derby Comedy Festival have now come through for me.''

As well as becoming patron, Jonny will be helping celebrate the opening of the festival in an un-missable night of comedy, along with some of the best comedic talent around in Jonny Awsum and Friends on Fri 3 Jul and is one of six acts at the Edinburgh Festival Preview All-Dayer on Sun 5 Jul.
