Keep the kids entertained this winter

It's suddenly gone very cold and very windy, and at present, very wet outside and that sparks trouble for parents with very bored children! So to give you some inspiration of how to keep them entertained throughout the winter months, here's a few ideas of things happening during Nov and Dec.
Christmas Lights Switch On Sat 15 Nov
Help get Derby festive as we turn on the Christmas lights with a whole host of acts and entertainment. Starting at around 3pm, join a festive parade from Babbington Lane complete with Santa and his elves, as well as a very naughty little scamp... but more about her later. Once we're in the Market Place the stage entertainment will begin until the lights are turned on at around 6pm.
Comedy Club 4 Kids! Sun 16 Nov
The day after all the fun of the Christmas Lights are turned on, Comedy Club 4 Kids! brings a real comedy club feel to the Guildhall Theatre. The difference? It's especially for children, so rest assured that no rude bits will grace their little ears. Tickets are almost sold out, so get in quick if you think your little ones would like a giggle.
Letters Through Your Door Sun 30 Nov
A brand new family show for 23 year old BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominated musician David Gibb. Packed full of catchy tunes and toe tapping numbers, feed their imagination as David helps them write songs about whatever comes to mind for the finale of the show!
Naughty Meg and the Christmas Elves Thu 11 Dec - Sun 28 Dec
A wickedly comic Christmas tale for anyone who's ever been even the slightest bit naughty! Told by the elves, you will follow Meg on a journey to elf-land as she comes face to face with her bad behaviour! Cheeky, delightful and full of music, magic and mayhem! You might even get to meet some of her elf friends at the Guildhall Theatre.
Derby Christmas Ice Rink Fri 28 Nov - Mon 5 Jan
Whether they want to do something with a group of friends, or spend time with you as a family, take them for a spin on the ice rink! A fabulous festive treat, going for a spin on rink with the Christmas lights twinkling in the background. Don't worry if they can't skate, or haven't before, lessons are available and there's even the option to use skate aids so they'll have a really enjoyable experience!
