Nicholas Owen to host Darley Park Concert

Classic FM presenter Nicholas Owen

Tue 22 Jul 2014

On Sunday 31 August, The Darley Park Concert returns for another evening of classical music, rounded off by a fantastic firework display in the beautiful setting of Darley Park.

We're excited to announce that Classic FM’s Saturday lunchtime presenter, Nicholas Owen, will host the concert, which includes classics both old and new from concert hall, stage and screen.

Sinfonia Viva will perform a programme that takes its theme from the 175th anniversary of the railway coming to Derby and so is full of all things train related. We hear that Nicholas has a keen interest in railways, so it seems that he is the perfect man for the job!

We're also pleased that James Holmes will be back to conduct the orchestra once again and the award-winning baritone Grant Doyle (who you may remember from last year) will lead the vocal numbers.

Additional entertainment will be provided by the Rolls-Royce Ladies and Male Voice Choirs and we'll also be welcoming members of Big Adventures Youth Theatre Company who will form the chorus for Skimbleshanks, performing alongside Grant Doyle.

We hope you'll join us for what should be a fantastic evening!

If you want to take a listen to Nicholas before the concert, then tune in the Classic FM every Saturday from 12pm to 3pm, available across the UK on 100-102 FM, DAB digital radio, at classicfm.com and on the Classic FM app.
