Outdoor events this summer
Mon 18 May 2015
With summer only just around the corner (although you wouldn't think it today with the constant drizzle of rain!) we thought we'd let you know about some exciting new events taking place at various outdoor locations around Derby!
Sight Support Derbyshire are hosting the annual duck race, where thousands of rubber ducks will be released from St Marys Bridge, where the first to cross the line will be crowned the winner! Not only that but you can also dress up or decorate a large duck and enter it into the Best Dressed Duck competition!
Local exhibitors will provide a representation of the great food and drink Derby has to offer. There will be a street food vibe and a browse and wander feel to the event. Enjoy this first festival food right in the heart of Derby!
Yes you read correctly, the Formula 1 ace himself will be holding his annual triathlon in our very own Markeaton Park! Competitors will get the chance to race against Jenson in a preliminary heat, fastest finishers heat and a wooden spoon race.
Celebrate the 40th year of the Derby West Indian Community Association's annual carnival, spread over 2 days, enjoy the procession on the Sat and the family fun day on the Sun.
If you're wondering just how to keep the kids entertained throughout the summer holidays, visit the Derby Family Fun Day on the Market Place for plenty of hints and tips on what to do and see this summer.
Sight Support Derbyshire will once again be bringing the seaside to inland Derby this summer. Relax at the beach, enjoy the entertainment, a ride on the funfair, inflatables and seaside stalls.
This traditional park fun fair will have all your favourite rides and something for all ages and sizes to enjoy. There'll also be prize stalls and lots of inflatable fun.
