The Derby Comedy Festival is going ahead
Tue 3 Jun 2014
The news that the Assembly Rooms has to be closed for at least 18 months has had an impact on the festival and unfortunately Dawn French, Morecambe, Jimmy Carr and Knightmare Live! have had to be cancelled. We have also lost Derby Pomp & Stomp from the Darwin, as we were unable to re-home this event.
However, the festival will still be going ahead, as we have arranged a Festival Tent in the Market Place that will now house the Ben Norris, Comedy Club 4 Kids, Funhouse Comedy and Norman Lovett performances.
There is more good news, as Comedy Moves will now begin in the Guildhall Theatre Large Clubroom before moving to the Council Chamber as planned, both Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre performances will also take place in the Guildhall Theatre Large Clubroom. Interrobang has been moved to The Book Café and Britain’s Got Talent favourite Steve Hewlett will now be closing the festival in the Derby Theatre Studio.
