Derby City Council is restoring Marketon Park with grants from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and the Big Lottery Fund (BIG) as part of the 'Parks for People' programme.

This exciting project will restore the Park's historic buildings, gardens and parkland and provide new paths and play equipment. Alongside the improvements to the park, there will be a programme of art and cultural events.

There's lots of new additions to Markeaton Park for 2015 including;

Footgolf

A combination of the best of football and golf played on part of the pitch and putt course using a regular football. The aim of getting the ball into the hole using only your feet in the fewest number of shots.

Scheduled to open from Sun 26 Jul - possibly earlier.

High Ropes

Experience our brand new high ropes course for a fun adventure for anyone from age 5 to 85!

Expected to open from Mon 7 Jun.

Craft Village

Wander around the re-vamped Craft Village full of local crafters selling a unique range of products and pop into our new Visitor Reception and Information Room.

Opening this summer.

Orangery Café

Enjoy tea, cake and lots more at our newly re-furbished Orangery Café, overlooking the park's formal gardens.

Opening this summer. 

In addition to the new arrivals there is also the re-vamped favourites of the park including the train, boating on the lake, pitch & putt, mini-golf, bouncy castle, the Mundy Play Centre and the paddling pool, all open throughout the summer months. 

 

Outdoor Theatre Season

As part of the re-development we are putting on an Outdoor Theatre Season in the Craft Village grounds, the 3 events include;

La Traviata Fri 24 - Sat 25 Jul

Twelfth Night Thu 28 - Sun 30 Jul

Rumple-Trumpy-Bum & Other Cheeky Chappies 

Workshops - Tue 4 - Sat 9 Aug

Performances - Thu 6 - Sat 9 Aug
