Amateur Community

Derby LIVE believes that the amateur sector is vital to the theatre ecology of Derby.

Derby is fortunate to have one of the country's largest and most vibrant Amateur Theatre communities. After a hiatus of a couple of years, Derby LIVE is extremely proud to have re-launched the Eagle Awards.

Amateur translates as ‘for the love of it’. The Eagle Awards celebrate, promote and recognise this love and the wonderful array of theatre it produces each year.

The next judging year for the Eagle awards 2010/2011 began on 1 July 2010.

The Aims, Objectives and Procedures for the Eagle AwardsAims, Objectives and Procedures for the Eagle Awards, an Entry FormEagle Awards Entry Form and an Amateur Theatre Monitoring FormAmateur Theatre Monitoring Form can each be downloaded from here, printed, completed and posted back to Kim Miller, Learning and Inclusion Manager at the address on the forms.

Derby’s amateur theatre community has requested that Derby LIVE facilitates a maximum of one workshop per annum for each respective amateur theatre group. These will share best practice and assist skills development. We will also provide amateur technicians with accredited training in technical areas such as lighting, sound and technical stage management. Please remember to submit your request for a workshop topic to Kim Miller.
