About the event

His Royal Highness the Prince is the bossiest, stroppiest, snottiest Prince that ever did live.

He is rude and he is lazy and worst of all he is given everything that he asks for.
“I want more presents!” whines the Prince
“I want it to snow right now and to go skiing in the garden!” he demands
"Yes your Highness" reply the servants

But one day he asks for the unthinkable...
“I want Father Christmas’ Magical Sleigh and I WANT IT NOW!!!!”
And his dad the Right Royal King set out to find it. After a week of waiting the Prince starts to worry, after a month he is scared.
“Where is my daddy! I want him now!”
Will the Prince get his daddy back? Will he learn some manners along the way? Babbling Vagabonds are back with a new festive tale for Christmas 2017.

Please see our last year's promotional video below for your information.

BSL Shadow-interpreted performances

The following performances are BSL Sign-Interpreted performances: Tue 12 Dec at 1.30pm, Fri 15 Dec at 10.30am, Sun 17 Dec at 2.30pm and Wed 27 Dec at 11am.

The traditional set up of sign-interpreted performances keeps interpreters off to one side of the stage and means that audience members who are hard of hearing, have to choose whether to watch the action on stage or the professional interpreter on the side.

For this reason, an alternative approach to sign language in the theatre is shadow interpreting, in which interpreters stay on the stage rather than off to the side. By incorporating interpreters into the performance itself, theatres aim to provide a more seamless experience for the entire audience.

Audio Described performances

Sat 16 Dec at 2.30pm and Wed 27 Dec at 11am are Audio Decribed performances. These shows are ideal for blind and partially-sighted people, audio description is a form of audio-visual translation, using the natural pauses in dialogue or between critical sound elements to insert narrative that translates the visual image into a sense form.

Free touch tours take place 75 minutes before the performance, with the chance to look closely at the set and costumes and often with a chance to meet some of the actors! Please let Box Office know if you want to attend the touch tour, tickets are free, but should be booked in advance.

Relaxed performance

Please note that Sun 10 Dec at 2:30pm is a relaxed performance show and as which is specifically designed and adapted for customers with a wide range of disabilities and those on the autistic spectrum. They have a less formal, more supportive atmosphere in order to reduce anxiety levels. The relaxed performance is still the same show but there are small changes to the sound levels, lighting and no pyrotechnics or strobe lighting are used. A perfromance guide is available here.

Reviews

“Fun for all the family and little one friendly with just under an hour and a quarter of laughs, toilet humour and Christmas magic...”  Lots for Tots

“….loved it - such good fun to watch. It was a perfect Christmas show for all the family.” DerbyDaysOut

“We always love a Babbling Vagabonds production and this was no exception. The boys and I were mesmerized by this magical and clever show. Their eyes were glued to the stage and they shifted between laughing hilariously, to joining in, to sitting on the edge of their seats, to clapping in delight. There were also some jokes in there just for us grown ups too.”  Boom Magazine Belper
