Our 2014 festive successes!

Festive Success

Fri 16 Jan 2015

We've had a really successful festive period and would like to share our achievements with all our great supporters!

Our Christmas show in the Guildhall Theatre really caught the cities imagination as Naughty Meg and the Christmas Elves was seen by more than 6000 people! A record-making number for our annual festive play, which for the past two years has been co-produced with Derbyshire-based Theatre Company Babbling Vagabonds. We've just confirmed that they're set to return for the 2015 show - more details to be announced soon.

Outdoors in the Market Place, the Derby Christmas Ice Rink returned for its fourth year, and it's proving to be quite the seasonal highlight as over 19,000 people took to the ice; another record breaking figure!

The Christmas Arts & Craft Fair and live entertainment programme that took place in the Market Place throughout December attracted over 34,000 shoppers to the Cathedral and St Peters Quarters. A range of independent local crafters selling unique creations was set up in a marquee alongside the ice rink – this also expanded to stalls in East Street at the weekends.

We're hoping to repeat our success during the next festive season with the return of our Christmas pantomime. Aladdin is set to be staged at the new Derby Arena and will see our pantomime become the biggest in the East Midlands - don't miss out, tickets are on sale now!
