Over the Easter weekend thousands joined the celebrations to mark St Georges Day in Derby’s City Centre on Saturday 20 April.

The event produced by Derby LIVE featured a variety of performances celebrating English tradition and heritage in all its eccentricities. St George and the Dragon led the parade through the City Centre to the Market Place.

This year’s parade had quite the gathering as it went through the City Centre. The variety of acts brought vibrancy and activity to the streets and market place. Popular local theatre company the Lost Boys performed an adapted ‘tongue in cheek’ story of St George and the Dragon, getting the crowds laughing and cheering.

The stage show included folk act Ranagri and Folk Dance Remixed performing Step Hop House, Maypole Dancing and Ceilidh Jam. The Market Place had medieval sword fighting, Treemendous by Megabeast Productions and giant pigeons.

On the Market Place there were a range of activities including an arts and craft fair, long bow archery and medieval combat display.
