Christmas Arts & Crafts Fair

About the Event

The Christmas Arts & Crafts fair will be operating in the Market Place from Wed 3 Dec until Sun 21 Dec and will be filled with a variety of stalls, each selling unique items with a Christmas feel.

All products are created by registered artisans as well as some food and drink stalls. Come down to this bustling market to get some ideas for last minute presents or for a festive wander around the city centre. The market will be on East Street on the following weekends;

Sat 13 - Sun 14 Dec

Sat 20 - Sun 21 Dec

Please note; the market will not operate as normal on Thu 18 Dec as the monthly Farmers' Market will be taking place, although some of the crafters may be incorporated.

Joy Riding Reindeer

11am – 11:30am, 12:15pm – 12:45pm & 1:30pm – 2pm

Meet Basher and Crasher the cud chewin’, fun lovin’, hoovy groovy reindeer as they cruise about in their amazing self-propelled sleigh whilst playing their favourite seasonal tunes.

Salvation Army

10am - 12noon

A brass band playing Christmas Carols.

Penguins

11am – 3pm

An educational display of adorable penguins that will bring an Antarctic feel to the Market Place this Christmas. Always a favourite with children and adults alike, these gorgeous birds prove to be quite comical characters as they waddle around in their pen.  One of the two handlers will give informative talks periodically throughout the day.

Bruce Airhead Christmas Show

12noon – 12.30pm & 1:15pm – 1:45pm

The metamorphosis of a man and a six-foot balloon in an original 30-minute Christmas comedy show.

Watch with disbelief as Bruce Airhead inflates a 6 foot balloon and then proceeds to climb inside!   Don’t miss Bruce’s explosive show, and its festive finish.

A brass band playing Christmas Carols.

Red Hot Santa's

11am – 11.30am, 12.15pm – 12.45pm & 1.30pm – 2pm

The Brasshoppers & Real Macaws perform a spectacle of festive Fnk, Ska & Calypso.

Your favourite Christmas tunes, as you have never heard them before.

Ice Creations

11am – 4pm

Watch in wonder as a fantastic ice sculpture appears from a block of ice, as if by magic.

Snowman by Jelly Rollers

12noon – 12.45pm & 1:30pm – 2.15pm

A giant snowman will carry Scrooge through the streets ofDerbyas he plays a selection of your favourite Christmas carols on his fabulous euphonium. Why not sing-a-long with him?

Reindeers

11am – 4pm

Come and see our friendly reindeer, ask questions and discover interesting reindeer facts. You can also have your photograph taken in our Santa Sleigh.
