About the event

While the girls are at the barre, their mums are at the bar!

Stepping Out meets Dance Moms in this sparkling new comedy about the wonderfully horrendous world of Dancing Schools.

It’s 1996, the infamous Shirley Cotton School of Dance is on the brink of closure, can one last show save it from financial ruin?  With tutus, tap shoes and tantrums galore, Miss Shirley’s girls prepare to perform and their long suffering mums prepare to revisit old rivalries as the action shifts back and forth to their own youth at the very same school in 1963.  30 years may have passed but the rehearsals, the rows, the stage smiles and the backstage banter remain gloriously unchanged.

Miss Shirley battles to keep dancing, the girls battle to be the best in show and the mums just battle each other.

Laugh out loud and recoil in horror as Big Adventures bring this homage to all things ‘dance’ to the Derby stage for the very first time.
