About the Event
A wry, poignant, humorous and topical one-man show, spiced with anecdotes of his life and times in the worlds of media and show business.
When life gets a bit like lipstick on a pig and you really don’t want to get all grubby again going down that horrid escape tunnel you’ve been clawing away at ever since you could crawl – why not come and share in the fun of a fairly new Neil Innes show?
Neil is best known for his collaborative work with Monty Python, The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band and The Rutles while his TV shows for BBC2, The Innes Book of Records have become cult classics. Neil’s solo shows tickle the emotions with a potent mix of fine musicianship and enlightened lyricism, packed with sharp observations celebrating the absurdities of modern existence.
In his own words, “flawless sincerity, powerful drama, award-winning comedy and a sweet ukulele marmalade, flesh out an entirely honest but otherwise unpretentious musical bouquet, with a robust hint of vanilla and a lingering aftertaste of red currants. Good with children and animals...if I could describe what it is I do on stage in a sentence or two, or even a cleverly constructed paragraph, then there would be absolutely no need for me to go on stage and do it.”
