About the Event

Cast off those post-summer blues and join DYMT for some madness in the House of Fun!

Derby Youth Musical Theatre is a brand new theatre group set up to showcase the talents of local young people between the ages of 13 – 18. Their very first production, Our House, combines a witty and brilliantly crafted romantic tale with the energetic and madcap songs of Madness.

It is the story of Joe Casey who, on the night of his sixteenth birthday, takes Sarah, the girl of his dreams, out on their very first date. In an effort to impress her he breaks into a building site overlooking his home on Casey Street. The police turn up, at which point Joe’s life splits in two: the Good Joe who stays to help, and Bad Joe who flies. Our House follows the two courses his life would have taken had he stayed to face the music or made a run for it. The story cleverly weaves into it some of Madness’s greatest hits including Baggy Trousers, Driving In My Car, Our House, and the emotionally charged It Must Be Love.

Over thirty teenagers bring this exuberant and explosive musical to the Guildhall stage; so cast off those post summer blues and join us for some madness and be our guests at DYMT’s very own House of Fun!
