Rapunzel
The Pantomime
Fri 2 - Sun 4 Dec 2016
Guildhall Theatre
Running Time: 2 hours 15 minutes - approximate, including any interval(s).
About the Event
Fairy Flora, having only just graduated from Fairy College, casts a spell to help the King teach his spoilt, party-loving son, Prince Frederick, to start acting responsibly. A recipe for disaster which, predictably, doesn’t quite go to plan. The Prince is banished from the palace, until he has 'grown up'.
Setting off through the forest with his friend Frankie, he discovers the girl of his dreams locked in a tall tower. The only way he can reach her is to climb up her plait of long golden hair.
The evil witch Gothel, however, is determined that the path of true love will not run smoothly. She has been keeping Rapunzel captive, pretending to be her grandmother, and likes nothing more than to make Rapunzel cry, using her tears to make a magic youth potion. Will Gothel’s harebrained henchmen, Curly and Bob, help or hinder with her evil plans?
Meanwhile Dame Beatrix Bouffant, proprietor of the classy Pink Pompadour Hairdressing Palace, is unaware of the fate of princes and pretty girls, being too busy wondering how she is going to make ends meet, after failing to create the classy coiffure her customers desire.
Will Prince Frederick rescue his love from a life in the tower and will Rapunzel find out who her real mother is???
