This event is part of Derby Folk Festival. Due to the latest developments, following the fire at the Assembly Rooms on Friday 14 March, this event will now take place in the Market Place Festival Tent, all existing tickets remain valid

With a career that has taken in six decades, Steeleye Span is not just a legendary name in British music but also a link to the classic days of rock and folk music. They have gone on to change the face of folk music forever, taking it from small clubs and festivals into the world of chart topping albums and international tours.

Part of the story has been the individuals that have contributed to the band’s history. Steeleye Span has provided a home for a long list of some of the world’s finest musicians. The current line up of Maddy Prior, Rick Kemp, Liam Genockey, Julian Littman and Peter Zorn along with old names such as Martin Carthy, John Kirkpatrick, Tim Harries, Bob Johnson and most recently Peter Knight.

The band released their new album Wintersmith in collaboration with Sir Terry Pratchett at the end of 2013. 

2014 sees Steeleye Span emerging on another new exciting chapter. With the departure of fiddle player and long standing member Peter Knight the band introduce Jessie May Smart. A departure to what we have come accustomed to with Steeleye Span, Jessie is a young, vibrant talent who trained with Richard Ireland at Trinity College of Music before going onto The University of Nottingham and who’s CV includes working on The X Factor and with Katie Melua.
