About the Event

The Beekeepers will now be performing with support from Hudson Super Six as Jesus Jones have had to pull out due to one of the band members needing surgery. The gig will now take place in the Assembly Rooms - Darwin

From Jesus Jones:
Right guys, we're sorry to have to let you know we're not going to be able to do the show in Derby with The Beekeepers on November the 15th. Our guitarist Jez has managed to knacker his knee completely, and has to have surgery on it at the end of the month, and faces considerable recovery time on crutches. Not ideal. The Joneses are such a family now that trying to do a gig without Jez doesn't seem right, and without him we certainly wouldn't be the same band on stage. We always like to give you our all - and if we can't do that, it's not worth trying. So, we've spoken to the Beekeepers, who agreed to plough on without us - and we know they'll have a blinder anyway. We're still hoping we can do that double header again sometime in the future!

From The Beekeepers:
We're obviously gutted that Jesus Jones can no longer join us in November, but completely understand that having a guitarist on crutches isn't exactly ideal. The standard phrase Is "the show must go on" and so it shall. Given the fact that we're no longer being joined by a band who've had an American Number 1 - we feel as though our top 4 indie chart status is probably better suited to the Darwin Suite. A local band will shortly be announced as support really soon. See you in a month!

Anyone who has purchased tickets in order to see Jesus Jones are of course welcome to a full refund. Please contact our Box Office on 01332 255800 to arrange this.

Please note that the gig will now be in the Assembly Rooms - Darwin. Tickets already purchased will still be valid.

The Beekeepers (Jamie East - vocals, Steve Bailey - drums, Mark Simpson - bass, Kev Lamb - guitar) were signed to Beggars Banquet records in the 90s, releasing 4 singles and an album and were renowned for their incredible live shows before their split in 1998. After over a decades silence, they reformed for a one-off gig in 2011 at The Bell - this proved to be an itch they couldn’t stop scratching.

Perry Ap Gwynedd from Pendulum will be joining the band on stage on guitar. Many will know him as one of the best guitarists in the country, and he has toured the world playing in the biggest venues and has got gold discs coming out of his ears.

Joining him on keyboards is the esteemed Kenny Dickenson, who has spent the past 10 years playing in loads of artist's bands such as Natalie Imbruglia and KT Tunstall as well as being one of Jamie's oldest friends.

Jamie East (The Beekeepers): “We were so overwhelmed by the demand and response at The Bell, we knew we couldn’t end it there and we are SO excited to be playing The Assembly Rooms - it’s the venue every Derby band dreams of playing, so we cannot wait. It promises to be a night Derby will never forget. We’re going to put on the show of our lives.
