About the Event

The British Triathlon Mixed Relay Cup Nottingham will feature top British and international elite triathletes racing around Victoria Embankment and Trent Bridge on Saturday 2 September 2017 in this dynamic and exciting format of the sport.

An expected crowd of 20,000 spectators and a live BBC One television audience will follow the action as up to 20 elite race teams, including Olympians, battle to become the event’s inaugural champions.

The Mixed Relay format involves teams that comprise two men and two women who each complete a short course triathlon before ‘tagging’ their teammate to do the same.

The format, whilst relatively new to spectators in the Great Britain, is well-known overseas, with British and English national teams having won World and Commonwealth titles. The decision to include Mixed Relay within the Tokyo 2020 Olympics is set to be made later this year.

The Mixed Relay Cup will be supported by the City of Nottingham Triathlon, a mass participation event aimed at novice participants, offering an opportunity to experience closed roads racing alongside the River Trent on Nottingham’s famous Victoria Embankment.

The course is designed to create a brilliant spectator experience for both the novice and elite races. Much of the course is free to view, or tickets can be bought for the stadium area.

There will also be a huge spectator village featuring a range of different cultural foods, FREE sports activities covering a wide range of sports, demonstration sports, kids’ activities and entertainment. Here there will also be an Expo area with a range of companies exhibiting their products, with plenty of try before you buy opportunities and freebies.

There will be spectator areas around the course but spectators can grab Grandstand tickets and find out more at britishtriathlon.org/mixedrelaycup
