About the Event
This event is promoted by the Derby Cathedral, Derby LIVE are pleased to act as a ticket agent.
A special concert performed in honour of the patron saint of music, celebrating a momentous and trailblazing anniversary. Twenty years ago, Derby Cathedral founded the one of the earliest girls’ cathedral choirs, participating in a musical revolution of gender equality. At this very special concert, the achievements of all who have passed through the ranks of the girls’ choir since 1997 will be celebrated through a diverse and rousing programme featuring music by Parry, Mozart and Britten. Familiar faces will return, too, including Canon Peter Gould, the Cathedral’s former Director of Music and the founder of the girls’ choir.
Since 1997, over 60 girls have played their part in making the girls’ choir such an integral part of life at Derby Cathedral. Former girl choristers will be invited back for this evening of celebration, and will be adding their voice to the programme.
