About the event

Sinfonia Viva return as part of Derby Folk Festival, bringing an invitation to the dance.

The concert is open to the Folk festival weekend and Friday evening wristband holders, as well as there being a number of tickets available for non-festival-goers to purchase, just for this wonderful concert.  Seating for this event will be unreserved, and it is sure to be a very popular event.

Bartók raids his folk music collection; Arutiunian taps into his Armenian heritage; Holst gives his school orchestra some jigs to play (throwing in ‘Greensleeves’ for good measure); Grieg salutes a great Scandinavian playwright with a suite of 18th-century-style dances – all guaranteed to get your feet tapping!

Bartók            Romanian Dances

Arutiunian   Violin Concerto (soloist Benedict Holland)

Holst              St. Paul’s Suite

Grieg              Holberg Suite
