Annual and Long-term Street Traders Terms and Conditions
Derby LIVE manages a limited number of annual or long-term Street Trading sites. “Long-term” refers to a period above one month.
Selection Criteria & Application Process
Applications for an annual or long-term Street Trading site can be made in writing to the City Centre Events Manager at spacehire@derby.gov.uk c/o Derby LIVE, Market Place, Derby, DE1 3AH.
Applications need to take the form of a proposal outlining the goods or product to be sold, the amount of days per week that trading would take place, and a photograph of the trading unit that would be used.
In relation to food products, all necessary food hygiene certificates and evidence of registration with a local authority environmental health team must accompany any proposal.
In assessing a proposal for an annual or long-term Street Trading pitch, Derby LIVE will take into account the following:
- Duplication of offer in relation to existing annual or long-term Street Trading units.
- Duplication of offer in relation to permanent retail outlets in the vicinity of the pitch desired.
- Derby LIVE has a responsibility to existing Street Traders and the wider retail sector of Derby City Centre to not introduce excessive competition so proposals that duplicate an existing offer will normally be refused.
- Unique and interesting proposals will be considered and a wider consultation process will be embarked upon. Consultation will normally include the relevant Business Improvement District (BID) and appropriate business/retail outlets within the vicinity. The success of these proposals will be subject to a positive outcome of the wider consultation process.
- Proposals are encouraged which will add to the attractiveness and ambience of Derby City Centre. Thus, the attractiveness of the unit that will be used will be taken into account as well as the quality of the product to be sold.
Cost
The current cost of an annual or long-term Street Trading pitch is £343.33 per month. This can be paid by cheque or direct debit to Derby City Council.
An electricity supply, if available, has an additional cost of £45 + VAT per month.
