Pedlars principles and guidelines
Pedlars are welcome in Derby City Centre under the following conditions:
- That they have an up-to-date pedlar’s licence. This is obtainable from any police station.
- If they use a unit for the sale of goods, it must be mobile.
- That they keep moving, stopping only for sufficient time to make a sale, with a maximum individual sale time of 15 minutes.
- In the case of any of the above conditions not being observed the pedlar will be considered to be Street Trading and will be required to pay a Street Trading fee.
- Products that may cause hazards, such as bubble machines, will not be allowed and will be considered a public nuisance and reported to the police.
- At the discretion of Derby LIVE, the sale of certain products may be reported to Derby City Council Trading Standards Team if they are considered to be in breech of trading standards or infringe copyright or any other relevant regulation.
- The sale of animal skins and fur products will not be allowed and will be reported to the police as a potential stimulus for public disorder.
